Job Description

The Network Engineer I is responsible for reviewing, validating, and processing vendor fiber delivery packages to support the timely deployment and maintenance of the network infrastructure. This role requires a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with internal and external teams. The engineer will work within defined procedures to resolve routine issues and support a range of activities related to network design, data validation, and quality assurance.
Scope:
Applies company policies and standard procedures to review and process vendor packages.
Works on issues of limited scope with guidance and oversight from senior engineers.
Follows detailed instructions to complete network engineering tasks.
Your Roles and Responsibilities:
Review and validate vendor fiber delivery packages, ensuring all required documents such as LOA/CFA, Vendor Network Diagram, Site Survey Photos, CID mapping, and KMZ files are complete and accurate.
Collaborate with internal teams to address any issues found during the review process, including Dark Fiber or location discrepancies.
Create and update Engineering Data Packages (EDP) based on validated vendor documentation, including Route Diagrams for fiber testing.
Update network databases, including DC360, by modeling new equipment, creating site codes, and addressing CID mapping issues.
Perform quality assurance checks on vendor deliverables and escalate issues to the appropriate teams when necessary.
Work directly with vendors and ISPs to resolve network hardware or software issues, ensuring prompt resolution of incidents such as input errors, CRC errors, or RMA-related tasks.
Assist in ensuring site readiness by validating ILA readiness spreadsheets and coordinating with teams on space and power requirements.
Provide support for global network infrastructure, including backbone, datacenter, and content delivery network (CDN) elements, as necessary.
Support the deployment and integration of new fiber routes, ensuring alignment with internal workflows and standards.
Other duties as assigned, ensuring flexibility to meet evolving network demands and requirements.
Required Qualifications/Skills:
Bachelor’s degree (B.S/B.A) from four-college or university and 0 to 2 years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Have a basic understanding of routing, switching, server operating systems, active directory, firewalls, wireless controllers, DNS, email, virtual machines and software applications
Builds stable working relationships internally
Follows standard practice and procedures when analyzing situations or data
Familiarity with content delivery networks and internet peering strategies
Understanding of server hardware technologies relative to content delivery performance and capacity

Salary Range
$26.34 – $41.58 USD (Hourly)

Further, the salary information noted above is a range that consists of a minimum and maximum rate of pay for this specific position. Where an applicant or employee is placed on this range will depend and be contingent on objective, documented work-related considerations like education, experience, certifications, licenses, preferred qualifications, among other factors.
